Reviews
This is a small place but you won't regret it. They have indoor and outdoor dining. If you pay cash I believe there's a discount. The service was GREAT!!! Woo was so attentive and welcoming!!! The menu has great options! The food has so much flavor and it's a great portion. You will definitely come out full. So happy I found this place. We loved everything we got.
My GO-TO spot whenever I’m craving Korean comfort food! Whenever friends from out of town come to visit, I always bring them here, and whenever they come back to visit, they always demand on coming back here to eat again. The vibe is always welcoming and the servers there only further enhance the overall great experience. The side dishes are fantastic, which is a huge bonus because a lot of Korean restaurants that I’ve been to are a little lackluster when it comes to their side dishes. The main dish and appetizers are all solid. I honestly can’t think of a single dish that I can think of where I left unsatisfied, and I actually tried the entire menu. Great food, great vibe, great servers, great ambiance, what more can you ask for?
Used to love this place until I enjoyed Korean bbq in k town, but it was still better than this last meal. The picture led me to believe I would get more and better sides; I have in the past as well. I had four tiny sides - 3 bites each - and the kimchi was bad, the other was one piece of broccoli, the third I don’t even know; carrots in some marinade (not good) and then the really good vegetables cut into noodles.
The $32 short ribs were a decent size but not after realizing it’s mostly tough fat and cartilage; not to mentioned on the bone… which I thought was weird, and unexpected.
Not great. Won’t order again until it improves, but wanted to share for the other throwback guests that might also expect better.
Second time eating here. Amazing atmosphere and finally a really good Korean place in Astoria! The fried chicken wings amazing soy garlic flavor and the spicy goodness. But the number one was the beef short ribs juicy tender and meaty. Family also loved the kimchi soup with tofu and beef so rich and heart warming! Great choice of banchan as well. Definitely a staple and if you want to try something different and hearty definitely head to KAL
KAL exceeded all expectations. I've had a lot of great Korean food in the city, but KAL was next level. Great food, great portions, great atmosphere, and generous portions, all of which was delicious. If there is any downside to this spot it's that it's so small! But frankly that serves the atmosphere, it's perfect for a date spot or catching up with a few old friends over huge plates of steaming, delicious food. Truly a 5/5 stars. Check it out if you're in Astoria, you won't regret it.
Food: we got the short ribs, bibimbap and Korean fried chicken wings. every dish came piping out and filled with flavor. my kids loved the pickled radish that came alongside the chicken wings. really complemented the soy garlic flavor
Atmosphere: friendly staff. they were constantly checking on us despite it being very busy on a Friday night. we walked in with a group of 5 including 2 kids but I’d recommend calling in advance if you’re coming in with a large group since the space is small. we did get seated fairly quickly which was a plus.
highly recommend giving this place a try if you’re craving some authentic Korean food
This place has the best authentic Korean food. Everything tastes delicious. The tofu stew with brisket was so good. The atmosphere was great and the staff was very friendly.
Superb small place with yummy and fresh dishes. Especially recommend the bulgogi! The tofu stew was good but would recommend to add more ingredients to enrich the flavor, and the fried tofu’s sauce was a bit too dense thus the balance was a bit off. But still if craving for some Korean food in that area, this is a good choice!
